Rothesay is the island's only town and the main ferry port. The Glenburn sits on the hillside just above the Esplanade, close enough to walk to the Wemyss Bay ferry pier, the Winter Gardens, Rothesay Castle and the bus terminus in a few minutes.

That location makes it a practical base for a car-free trip: walk off the ferry, walk to the hotel, and use the island bus network or your own feet for the rest of the stay.

The Glenburn is a traditional Bute hotel rather than a contemporary boutique property.
