Days out in Bute

The Isle of Bute has a magical, old world charm about it plus its people make it a very special place to visit. Golfing Paradise

There are three courses on the island. Rothesay golf club , Bute Golf Course and The Port Banatyne club. All have a very interesting and scenic play with mountain and sea views. They really are a must for any avid golfer. Theres a little more information each individual club below.

The Waverley in Rothesay

The Waverley is the last remaining seagoing paddle Steamer in the world. It still sails the Firth of Clyde from Dunoon to Rothesay and is enjoyed by locals as well as the many tourists wanting to experience that old style charm of transport. You can book your sail here

Bute Golf Course

Go golfing on the Isle of Bute. With a selection of three wonderful courses, from 9-18 holes, the island is perfect for golfing enthusiasts. Keen golfers can expect a different setting on each course, with panoramic views to the isle of Arran, the Cowal Hills and the Firth of Clyde. Bute Golf Course located near to Stravannen Bay on the west coast, is the oldest course on the island.

Rothesay Golf Club

One of Scotland’s most picturesque and scenic golf courses. At only 3.07 miles in length the course is very tough challenge. The course circles round Canada hill which gives it amazing views of the seven surrounding counties. You can see the full of Kintyre, Lochs Striven and Ridden and the Isle of Arran to name a few and with green fees starting at only £10 this is one Scottish golf course that shouldn’t be missed.

Port Bannatyne Golf Club

An unusual course in that it only has 13 holes with the first 4 being replayed before ending on a separate 18th. Located on the west course means the course benefits from the gulf stream and is therefore almost never closed. Demanding and exciting, this course is sure to be an enjoyable day out for any golfer.

Most of the Restaurants serve a traditional Scottish Menu. Set menu s for lunches and a’la carte for your evening meals. A restaurant with a good reputation is “Brechin’s Brasserie” 2 Bridgend St, Rothesay. Serving a mix of Mediterranean and Scottish Produce

Traditional Pubs and Bars

If its a night out your after then you wont be disappointed. There are many Pubs and Bars on the island some with live music. Most notably you will find a mixed crowd at “ The Grapes Bar” 70 Montague St Rothesay complete with Pool table and friendly staff
